A trenchless method of restoring a damaged or corroded pipe from the inside, with no excavation. The pipe is first cleaned mechanically with a high-speed chain machine — V8, V1 or mini6 — to strip every deposit and leave a profiled surface, then dried completely. A two-component epoxy, NoDig BSE, is then applied to the inner wall by rotating brush or by spray, using a ProLight, ProLight2 or The Pipe Boy inserted through an existing access point — a manhole, inspection chamber or cleanout. The cured epoxy forms a continuous inner lining that seals the wall and protects it from further corrosion. No road breaking and no trench.
No. NoDig equipment and BSE epoxy are made for drain and sewer pipes only — domestic, commercial, municipal and industrial drainage. They are not intended for and not approved for potable or sanitary water systems, and NoDig holds no NSF 61, WRAS or WRc certification for them. Any claim to the contrary, wherever it appears, is incorrect.
Brush coating — A rotating brush mechanically spreads the resin over the pipe wall. Optimal in DN40–DN150. Better on bends, joints and irregular geometry, and the layer can be corrected over several passes. Spray lining (SIPP) — Centrifugal force disperses the resin around the full circumference of the pipe. Optimal in DN100–DN300. Better on straight sections and long runs, and leaves a smoother wall. The ProLight and ProLight2 do brush coating and spray lining with interchangeable applicator heads; the dual-colour BSE confirms coverage on camera either way.
The lining line covers DN40–DN300. The ProLight covers DN40–DN125, DN150 with the larger hose, over a 20 m working length — 30 m with the larger hose and preheating — with a single-press cartridge system in 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 ratios, 6 kg, running on 100 % compressed air. The ProLight2 covers DN40–DN150, DN200 with the larger hose, with Double Press applying two cartridges simultaneously, 15 kg. The Pipe Boy covers DN50–DN300 at 370 g/min with a 50 m high-pressure hose on a reel, 89 kg. All three run from −10 °C to +50 °C, with no freezing and no condensation.
BSE stands for Brush Spray Epoxy — a two-component, 100 % epoxy made for trenchless lining of drain and sewer pipes. It is supplied in two colours, white and blue: the operator applies one over the other and the colour change on the in-pipe camera shows immediately where coverage is complete and where it is thin. It comes in 1.6 kg cartridges and 12 kg pails, adheres to PVC, concrete, steel and cast iron, and works in all three lining machines. NoDig does not publish a BSE technical data sheet — cure time, film thickness, number of passes and mix ratio are not published figures. Request them from NoDig for your pipe material and duty rather than working from a number found elsewhere.
Brush coating and spray lining restore the inner surface of a pipe that is still standing. They are not a solution for a fully collapsed pipe or for major structural damage — those cases need a point repair, CIPP or replacement. A CCTV survey before the job decides which of the three applies. NoDig does not publish a design service life for the lining and makes no structural claim for it.
NoDig publishes no service-life figure, and no single figure would apply to every pipe. Coating life is governed by the condition of the host pipe before lining, the quality of the mechanical surface preparation, whether the pipe was dried properly, the application itself, a complete cure before the pipe returns to service, and the temperature, flow and chemical load it then sees. A lining applied over a poorly prepared or structurally failing pipe will not last, whatever the material. Ask NoDig for the figures that apply to your pipe material and duty.
This is the step that decides whether the lining holds. The pipe must first be cleaned mechanically with a high-speed chain machine — V8, V1 or mini6, according to diameter — to remove mineral scale, grease, corrosion, root intrusion and loose material from the wall. It must then be dried completely: residual moisture is the most common cause of delamination. Only a clean, dry, profiled surface is ready to take BSE.
The Pipe Boy is the industrial machine: DN50–DN300, 370 g/min, a 50 m high-pressure hose on a reel for long runs without stopping, heated hoses and epoxy for consistent viscosity in cold or variable weather, remote control so the operator stays outside the pipe, 89 kg. Choose it for municipal infrastructure, industrial pipelines, large diameters or long sections. Choose the ProLight (DN40–DN125, 6 kg, 100 % air, no electricity needed on site) or the ProLight2 (DN40–DN150, Double Press, 15 kg) for residential and commercial work.
